A parent’s view of their child’s experiences at Birmingham Children’s University

"As a family, we continuously instil into both our boys the need for education and further education.  After 6 years at night-school, in 2006, both my sons attended my graduation ceremony, which has reaffirmed their own desires to achieve academically. 

When our boy’s school approached us about The Children’s University, we were more than pleased to dedicate the time towards this worthwhile scheme.

Since joining, both my wife and I have watched our son with great pride.  He is no longer a quiet, shy and reserved boy but a confident young man.  Whilst not everything can be attributed to The Children’s University, we feel it’s certainly helped.

This weekend, he participated in Sport Module 2.  Yesterday, on the way home I asked him whether he’d rather have spent the time at home than be at The Children’s University, his answer was a resounding NO!  

After each module our son has come away with only praise and excitement for The Children’s University.  Although this additional learning is completed outside of school during holidays and weekends, it is in our son’s words “nothing like school”.

As a family, we offer our praise and thanks to The Children’s University and can only state that it’s been a positive experience for him and hope the same experience can be afforded to other children."
